One Today is a free mobile app by Google that features a different nonprofit project every day. Both Android and iOS users can download the app and use it to donate to specific projects all over the world right from their phones. Not only is it a convenient way to support nonprofits, One Today also allows users to learn about new organizations and how they impact their communities, donate to what inspires them and then invite their friends to give and match their donations.

This donation app makes giving back a cinch—and it can all be done from the convenience of a smartphone. Nonprofits whose projects are featured on the app have an excellent opportunity to expand their reach beyond their typical audience.

One key point: In order to submit a request to feature one of your projects on One Today, you must be a member of Google for Nonprofits. If you haven’t yet done that, just head here to read about requirements and to submit a quick application.

Otherwise, here’s a rundown of how One Today works:

Once you’re a member of Google for Nonprofits, you can submit a request to feature a project on One Today. This allows you to leverage the power of Google to raise awareness about what you do and how you’re making an impact.

If Google chooses to feature your project (there is a new one each day), you can tell your story using a simple template that Google provides. Creating projects with One Today takes about 10 minutes, according to Google, and it’s so simple, there’s no need for an IT guy.

What the template includes:

Two of the most important elements: A compelling photo and a concise explanation of how the gift will help. If you can show how one dollar can make a significant difference, users will be more interested in supporting.

This donation app is just one way Google helps nonprofits spread the word and expand their reach, all for free—in fact, there are many other free tools and services you can take advantage of through the Google for Nonprofits program.
